1. Jesus
was punished that we might be forgiven.
2. Jesus
became our sin so that we may become His righteousness. 2Corin 5:21. Jesus was punished with our punishment. Is 53:5-11; Rom 4:25; 8:32.
3. Jesus
became ugly and unattractive for us so that we may be beautiful. Is 52:14, 53:2.
4. Jesus
tasted death for us so that we may have His life. John 8:52; Heb 2:9
5. Jesus
offered/sacrificed His bodily health for our bodily sicknesses, pains, sorrows
and diseases so that we may have His bodily health. Is 53:5 ; Matt 8:17; 1Pet 2:24.
6. Jesus
became cursed with our curse so that we may have His blessing. Deut 21:23; Gal 3:13-14.
7. Poverty
is part of the curse but Jesus exchanged His abundance for our poverty. 2Cor 8:9; 9:8. Jesus was naked, He was
thirsty, He was hungry, He was punished, He was despised and rejected, His
cloth was taken away, and He was given what He didn’t want when He was thirsty,
He was laid in a borrowed tomb and lastly His tomb was heavily guarded. No sign
of poverty could be more than these. He experienced all the weight of poverty
for us so that we may have His riches.
8. He
exchanged our shame for His glory. Is
53:3; John 17:22; 19:23-24. Cp Mark 15:40a. Why did the women stood afar?
It’s because He was in such a shameful state, He was stack naked.
Jesus
has brought us to glory. Heb 2:10.
9. Jesus
took our rejection and gave us acceptance. Matt
27:46; Eph 1:3-6. God rejected Jesus because He took our place. The first
time Jesus prayed and there was no answer was when He was bearing our sins on
the cross. Jesus took our place of God-not-answering-our-prayer and gave us His
place of always-answered-prayer. John
11:41-42.
